Heidi Secker to replace Rob Chandler on GHR East afternoon show

Afternoons on Greatest Hits Radio’s East region will be hosted by Heidi Secker from Monday 3rd October.

Heidi will replace Rob Chandler who has been the regional presenter for this area since GHR announced its network plans back in 2020. Rob has been on-air in the region for over 35 years and will move to Nation Radio’s new Ipswich service.

Heidi, who lives in Great Yarmouth, has over a decade’s worth of experience in local radio having first worked as a radio presenter on BFBS when she was a mechanic in the Royal Navy.

More recently she has been with BBC Radio Suffolk, and spent nine years at Global working on Heart breakfast in Norwich.

Her new show will be broadcast live from Norwich and will be on air from 1 – 4pm every weekday.

Regional Content Director for Bauer South, Andy Shier said: “We’re thrilled to have Heidi join the line-up and bring both her local knowledge and a wealth of experience to Greatest Hits Radio. Passionate about everything 80s and 90s, her enthusiasm and love for the music will help bring the good times to our listeners.

A great addition to the team, we can’t wait for everyone to hear her from 1pm on Monday 3rd October!’

Heidi commented: “I can’t wait to spend my afternoons with everyone tuning into Greatest Hits Radio and share the biggest songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s – as well as all the local news and stories that matter. I’m so thrilled to join the team and start to deliver even more of the ‘good times’. So make a date for 1pm every weekday and come and join me!”

Andy Shier added: “We’d like to thank Rob for his time working with Greatest Hits Radio over the last 2 years. He has been a pleasure to work with and we wish him all the best for the future.”

From 1st October, Greatest Hits Radio is going DAB only in Ipswich and Suffolk as Nation Broadcasting rolls out its plan for extending Nation Radio on the former Town 102 licence.
