iHeartMedia has announced the promotion of Greg Alexander to Market President for its Minneapolis cluster.
Alexander has been with the cluster since 2012 serving as SVP/Sales until 2016 and Regional Senior VP of Sales since adding oversight of Milwaukee, Madison, Eau Claire and Rochester MN. He previously held Sales management roles for Clear Channel and SBS in Miami and was an Account Executive for Interep.
He succeeds Jeff Tyler as Market President in Minneapolis. Tyler relocated to Madison WI as Area President for Madison and Milwaukee in February.
iHeartMedia announced that Greg Alexander has been elevated to Market President. iHeartMedia Minneapolis has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than six stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Market President, Alexander will be responsible for overseeing programming, advertising and operations across iHeartMedia Minneapolis stations. He will report to Scott Hopeck, Division President for iHeartMedia.
“Greg’s extensive experience qualified him for this role, but more importantly his team lifted him into it, which is a testament to his leadership,” said Hopeck. “I’m confident that Greg and his team will lead our Minneapolis operation to new heights.”
Alexander is a media veteran with more than 20 years of experience in radio industry sales. He began his career with Interep National Radio Sales, Inc., quickly moving into a leadership role with Spanish Broadcasting System out of Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Alexander was named Director of National Sales and later promoted to General Sales Manager for iHeartMedia Miami before relocating to Minneapolis in 2012 to serve as Senior Vice President of Sales for iHeartMedia’s Minneapolis market. In 2016 his role expanded to oversee advertising efforts for the Western Great Lakes Region including Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Madison, Eau Claire and Rochester. Alexander is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism.
“This is an incredible opportunity to work with some of the country’s best brands and the industry’s brightest minds,” said Alexander. “I look forward to collaborating with the programming, advertising, and operations teams while helping elevate the Minneapolis market.”
