Great British Radio has joined DAB as broadcaster Mike Osman officially gets ready to launch the station on April 4th 2022 with backing from millionaire plumber Charlie Mullins.
The service will offer popular music and interviews, combined with a strong emphasis on humour and positivity.
Mike previously hosted the breakfast show on Capital Gold and says the station won’t have any scheduled news bulletins to keep the comedy flowing.
He says: “We want to make listeners laugh every ten minutes, so for us no news is good news. Everybody that I talk to says they are exhausted by 24/7 news. It’s time for something different.”
Charlie Mullins, the founder and former owner of Pimlico Plumbers, has provided financial backing and will be chairman of the new station.
“I’m proud to be supporting Great British Radio,” Charlie said. “It will be like a breath of fresh air and I believe the public is going to love it!”
The station’s team includes individuals from Osman’s time at Capital and celebrity interviewers, including actor Sam Kane, presenter Linda Lusardi, actress Vicki Michelle, comedian Richard Digance, and radio host Kevin King.
“We’ll be offering a collection of voices, thoughts and lives. Our recipe will include great laughs, great guests, and great music. There will be showbiz guests plus interviews with ordinary people who have made a positive difference in their community,” said Mike.
“We’ll cover everyday topics such as health and nutrition. Our guests will have time to relax and get their point across. It’s all about making a great impression and lifting the spirits of the public!”
Great British Radio will launch on DAB+ on April 4 in Herts, Beds, Bucks, North London, Surrey and South London. The station will also be available via radio player at greatbritishradio.org.
