Good Karma Brands Drops Nielsen

Good Karma Brands is the latest operator to drop Nielsen’s ratings services.

Good Karma CEO Craig Karmazin told Newsday that the company cancelled its subscription as of January 1 as part of a company-wide strategy as it is now focusing on. other measurements such as podcast downloads to gauge their reach. Karmazin told the newspaper, “It’s outdated to use one form of media to measure a show, especially one that doesn’t reflect the entire listening audience and viewing audience across all the different ways we distribute our media now.”

He also noted that the move had nothing to do with the upcoming August move of the company’s “98.7 ESPN” WEPN-FM New York to 1050 WEPN. The move also affects the company’s stations in Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Madison, Milwaukee, and West Palm Beach.
