Ginny Rogers Brophey 97.5 WOKQ Portsmouth Townsquare Media Country 97.5 WOKQ Portsmouth NH Brand Manager and midday host ‘Ginny Rogers’ Brophey will retire from the company in August.

Brophey has spent over four decades in radio and will be inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in July. She has spent the majority of her career in New England Country radio after starting her career at Rock 101.5 WPDH Poughkeepsie NY in 1984. She would spend the majority of her career in Boston with a 23 year run at Beasley Media Country 102.5 WKLB Boston and predecessors 99.5 WKLB and 96.9 WBCS mostly as APD/MD with her husband Mike Brophey as PD, but also worked at 92.9 WBOS and later programmed iHeartMedia’s “101.7 The Bull” WBWL from May 2018 until January 2020. She has led WOKQ since February 2022.

She commented, “I have loved my job every single day. Country radio, especially my teams, along with the artists, managers, labels, promoters, venues—and most importantly, the fans—have given me a lifetime of incredible memories. I’ve had an amazing run, and I’m so grateful to Townsquare for the support and trust to do what I love every day. This was 100% my decision, and it feels like the right time to pass the mic. My family is growing, and they need more of me. And with the incredible honor of being inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame on July 21st, the timing couldn’t be more meaningful.”

Townsquare Media New Hampshire Regional VP/Market President Christine Sieks said, “Ginny is one of the absolute best ever to do it. She has a gift for programming, a heart for the format, and a deep respect for the audience. Ginny didn’t just work in country radio—she helped define it.”

Townsquare will be launching a search to succeed Brophey. She said, “WOKQ is more than a radio station—it’s a way of life on the Seacoast. Whoever steps into this role will be stewarding a brand with deep roots, loyal fans, and a team that lives and breathes great Country radio.”
