Gelly Moves HD Only To Give Way To La Raza In Fort Myers

Just six months after launching Alternative “Gelly 94.1” 1240 WFSX/94.1 W231DC Fort Myers/93.7 WHEL-HD2 Sanibel FL, Sun Broadcasting has moved the brand exclusively to the HD subchannel.

Now branding as just “Gelly Radio“, the move enabled Sun to launch Regional Mexican “La Raza 94.1” on 1240 WFSX/94.1 W231DC this week. The move continues the growing Spanish language arms race between Beasley Media and Sun/Fort Myers Broadcasting.

Last month Beasley moved their Spanish CHR from a pair of HD fed translators to the 50kW 99.3 WWCN North Fort Myers as “Playa 99.3” intending to debut new formats on the 98.1 W251AL Fort Myers/105.1 W286AK Naples signals. That move was intended to increase competition to Fort Myers Broadcasting’s Spanish CHR “97.7 Latino” WTLQ-FM Punta Rassa and Spanish Tropical “Maxima 97.3/95.7” W247CR Pine Island Center/W239CL Golden Gate/WINK-HD2.
