Times Shamrock Communications has resurrected its “Fuzz” Alternative Rock brand in Northeast Pennsylvania with the launch of “Fuzz 96.1” W241AZ Scranton/W241BB Wilkes-Barre via WEZX-HD3 Scranton.
The format was previously heard in the market under multiple identities between 2010 and 2020. The company launched “FM 92.1” WFUZ in 2010 before becoming “Fuzz 92.1” in 2012 and “Alt 92.1” in 2017. The new brand is being overseen by Senior Vice President/Market Manager Terry Deitz and Operations Manager/Program Director Mark Hoover, while consulted by Michelle Rutkowski, OM of The Milwaukee Radio Alliance and PD of “FM 102.1” WLUM. Core artists include Imagine Dragons, Muse, Nirvana, Beck, Radiohead, Florence & the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Twenty One Pilots and Kings of Leon.
Hoover stated, “People have been asking me for years, what happened to Fuzz? I would always reply I miss it too, And after a few years we had the opportunity to bring it back.”
“Fuzz is a fan favorite in NEPA. With it’s return, we are happy to present four, distinct on-air brands… our first time in our more than one hundred years of serving Scranton/Wilkes-Barre”, added Times Shamrock CEO Jim Loftus. “Fuzz 96.1 compliments Rock 107 with the market’s only Alternative Rock choice.”
