Frequency Swap In Process In Charlotte

Radio One is in the process of swapping locations of two stations in Charlotte.

The Hip Hop “92.7 The Block” format has moved to 102.5 W273DA Charlotte as “102.5 The Block” fed via 105.3 WOSF-HD2. That will clear 92.7 for Sports 610 WFNZ to move its FM simulcast from the translator to the former 92.7 WQNC Harrisburg NC, which changed call letters earlier this month to WFNZ-FM. This swap was first reported in our 2/17 Domain Insight.

While WFNZ has updated its website and social media accounts to display the 92.7 signal, the station has not yet launched on the frequency.

The move will upgrade WFNZ’s FM signal from the 200 watt/155m translator to 92.7’s 10.5kW/154m Class C3 signal.

WQNC had been trending up in recent months up 1.6 – 2.0 – 2.2, although still well behind Beasley’s “Power 98” WPEG and its second ranked 5.8 share in the January 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings. WFNZ was omitted from the publicly listed ratings this month.
