Sabatino Cupelli’s SkyWave Broadcasting Inc. has launched Sports “98.7 The Fox” WFXS Pleasant Gap/State College PA.
SkyWave is currently operating the station via LMA from from Covenant Communications ahead of its $325,000 purchase. It is running Premiere Networks’ Fox Sports Radio network.
Formerly WLEJ-FM, the station had been home to Classic Country “Bigfoot Legends” until Seven Mountains Media’s January shuffle after the closing of its purchase of Forever Media’s stations in the market. The station had been running a redirect loop for much of the past seven months. That market restructuring also left State College without a Sports station as “ESPN 1450” WQWK/103.7 W279DK became WLEJ as half of a Classic Country simulcast.
