Former WRIF PD Mark Pennington Joins WGFN Traverse City For Mornings As Station Adds New Signal

Black Diamond Broadcasting Classic Rock “The Bear” 98.1 WGFN Glen Arbor/95.3 WWSS Tuscarora Township/Petoskey MI has added a third signal and a new morning show.

The station is now heard on 95.1 W236BU Traverse City following the closing of Black Diamond’s $25,000 purchase of the translator from Central Michigan University.

The Bear” also launched a new morning show on Monday as former WRIF Detroit Program Director Mark Pennington joins incumbent co-host/producer Tim Logan for “The Mark & Tim Show”. Pennington spent eighteen years in Detroit, first as APD/MD from 2001 to 2008 and then Program Director from 2008 to the end of 2019. He also served as APD of WLVQ Columbus and WMMS Cleveland in his career. Logan is on his second stint with the station serving as producer and co-host with former morning host Nate ‘Smitty’ Smith since March 2020 after previously programming the station from 2011 to 2016. Logan has also held on-air roles at multiple other stations in the market over the past two decades.
