Fire Radio and Sam FM Bristol to rebrand as Hits Radio

Bauer’s Bournemouth and Bristol stations Fire and Sam are rebranding to Hits Radio and taking the network’s national breakfast show from September.

The current Fire Radio breakfast presenters Max and Jason will move over to Hits Radio – Bristol and the South West (formerly Sam FM) to present drivetime, while Jono Holmes will start a new drivetime show on Hits Radio – Bournemouth and Poole.

Sam FM, which currently has its own local daytime lineup including Kam Kelly, Mark Franklin and Downsy, will take the network shows outside of Drive.

Both stations will continue to provide local news, information, traffic and travel as well as work with Bauer charity, Cash for Kids.

Graham Bryce told RadioToday about the changes: “Hits Radio’s journey has been building steadily over the last couple of years, and we’re incredibly happy to now be able to extend its reach to more of our listeners in the South of England.

“Led by the now ARIA award-winning Fleur East at breakfast Hits Radio offers listeners an entertaining and fun escape, with original, authentic presenters who share their interests and values.

“Sam FM’s Kam Kelly, Mark Franklin and Downsy have all made fantastic contributions during their time at the station, and as they broadcast their final shows over the next few weeks, I’d like to wish them all the very best.”

The two stations rebrand on September 6th 2021.
