February 2024 (2/1 – 2/28) Nielsen Audio PPM Ratings Day 1: WNYC-FM Ranks Highest It Ever Had; KOLA & KSBJ Lead Record Setters

Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

New York

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW increases its lead up 7.7 to 8.4. iHeart Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ trends up 5.9 – 6.6 – 6.9 and is followed by sister CHR “Z100” WHTZ 5.5 to 5.6. Public News/Talk 93.9 WNYC-FM rises 4.1 – 4.5 – 4.7 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is its largest share since January 2021, but also the first time the station has ranked as high as fourth overall in the market. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM falls 6.2 to 4.6 to tie for fifth with MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS as it is off 4.8 to 4.6.

Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW is up 3.7 to 4.1. Red Apple Media Conservative Talk 770 WABC rises 3.0 – 3.5 – 3.8. Univision Spanish Rhythmic “X96.3” WXNY gains 2.3 – 2.8 – 3.1.

Los Angeles

106.7 KROQ Pasadena Los AngelesA pair of stations ties for the top spot as iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST falls 7.0 to 6.0 and Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH is off 6.2 to 6.0. iHeartMedia News/Talk 640 KFI dips 5.5 to 5.4. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG is up 4.6 to 5.0. iHeart CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM holds at a 4.3 share to tie for fifth with Audacy Rhythmic AC “94.7 The Wave” KTWV as it drops 5.0 to 4.3.

Audacy News 1070 KNX/97.1 KNX-FM trends up 2.5 – 2.8 – 3.3, while sister Alternative 106.7 KROQ gains 1.9 – 2.2 – 2.8 for what Huff notes is its highest share since September 2018.

Univision Regional Mexican “La 101.9” KSCA rises 1.7 to 2.3. Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters’ “Go Country 105” KKGO slides 2.0 – 1.8 – 1.5.

Chicago

Bonneville Classic Rock “98.5 K-Fox” KUFX rises 1.6 to 2.1. iHeartMedia CHR “Wild 94.9” KYLD drops 2.3 to 1.7, which Huff notes ties its lowest share since 1996 (also set in February 2021).

Right behind are iHeartMedia AC “Star 102.1” KDGE up 4.5 to 4.8 and Service Broadcasting Adult R&B “105.7 Smooth R&B” KRNB up 4.7 to 4.8. Salem Christian AC 94.9 KLTY rises 3.8 to 4.3.

Audacy Classic Hits “98.7 The Spot” KSPF is down 4.7 to 4.2, while sister Variety Hits “100.3 Jack-FM” KJKK rises 3.5 – 3.7 – 4.1.

89.3 KSBJ HoustoniHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99” KODA holds its lead 8.3 to 8.2. Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ is up for the fifth straight month 5.7 – 6.0 – 6.5 – 7.3 – 7.7, which Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is a new record high for the station. Radio One Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT is up 5.3 to 5.6. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ slides 6.1 to 5.2, while sister Country “93Q” KKBQ is down 5.8 to 5.2.

Audacy Country “100.3 The Bull” KILT-FM trends up 3.5 – 4.5 – 4.7 – 5.1. Audacy Variety Hits “95.7 The Spot” KKHH drops 5.7 to 4.6.

Estrella Media Norteño “El Norte 107.9” KQQK jumps 3.1 – 3.5 – 4.5, which Huff notes is a record high share for the frequency. Estrella Media Regional Mexican “La Raza 98.5/101.7” KTJM/KNTE also rises 3.1 to 3.6.

Audacy Spanish CHR “Mega 101” KLOL trends up 2.0 – 2.2 – 2.8. iHeartMedia Hip Hop “93.7 The Beat” KQBT drops 3.4 – 3.2 – 2.7.

Audacy AC “B101” WBEB rises 5.5 to 6.3. Audacy News 1060 KYW/103.9 WPHI is off 6.2 to 6.0.

Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP is down 7.0 to 5.7, while its stream dips 2.3 to 2.0.

Beasley Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM climbs 2.4 – 3.1 – 4.2. Audacy Classic Hits “Big 98.1” WOGL rises 2.7 – 3.8 – 4.2.

iHeartMedia CHR “Q102” WIOQ is down 1.9 to 1.8 for what Huff notes is its lowest share since Spring 1979. Townsquare Media CHR 94.5 WPST Trenton NJ is nearby holding at a 1.4.

Nassau/Suffolk

Connoisseur Rock “94.3 The Shark” WWSK rises 1.6 – 2.2 – 2.5, while sister Classic Hits “103.1 Max-FM” WBZO trends up 1.7 – 2.1 – 2.4.

Riverside/San Bernardino

99.9 KOLA-FM Riverside San BernardinoAnaheim Broadcasting Classic Hits 99.9 KOLA-FM jumps up 8.9 – 9.6 – 11.7. Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes that it breaks the stations previous record high be a full share and is the largest for any station in the market since 2015.

Audacy Country “95.1 K-Frog” KFRG is a distant second down 5.8 to 5.0. Entravision Spanish Adult Hits “José 97.5” KLYY holds at a 4.5. Good News Radio Christian AC 89.7 KSGN dips 3.8 to 3.7. Univision Spanish AC “107.5 K-Love” KLVE trends up 2.4 – 3.0 – 3.3.

Univsion Spanish Adult Hits “Recuerdo 98.3/103.9” KRCD/KRCV gains 1.7 – 2.4 – 3.0.
