Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

New York

Q104.3 WAXQ New YorkiHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW jumps up 6.5 to 7.0 to retain its lead. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM rises 5.6 to 6.6. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ is third 5.9 to 6.0 which sets a station record high for the second straight month according to Ratings Expert Chris Huff. SBS Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ places fourth holding at a 5.2 share. MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS dips 5.5 to 5.1.

Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW is up 3.8 to 4.4. Public News/Talk 93.9 WNYC-FM trends up 2.8 – 3.8 – 4.0.

The three Hip Hop brands cluster near the bottom. MediaCo’s “Hot 97” WQHT holds at a 2.2 share. iHeartMedia’s “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM slips 2.5 to 2.0. Audacy’s Classic Hip Hop “94.7 The Block” WXBK inches up 1.5 to 1.6.

Los Angeles

Real 92.3 KRRL Los Angeles DJ CarismaiHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST barely holds on to the Los Angeles lead down 6.8 to 5.5. Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH trends up 4.7 – 4.9 – 5.4. Audacy Rhythmic AC “94.7 The Wave” KTWV dips 4.7 to 4.6. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG is off slightly 4.6 to 4.5. iHeartMedia News/Talk 640 KFI (steady at 4.1) and Univision Spanish AC “107.5 K-Love” KLVE (4.3 to 4.1) tie for fifth.

iHeartMedia Hip Hop “Real 92.3” KRRL jumps up 2.8 to 3.9 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the largest share on the signal since Summer 1998 as “92.3 The Beat” KKBT. Meruelo Media’s “Power 106” KPWR trends up 1.6 – 1.8 – 2.1.

iHeartMedia CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM trends up 3.0 – 3.6 – 3.9. Univision Spanish Oldies “Recuerdo 98.3/103.9” KRCD/KRCV rises 2.1 – 2.7 – 2.9. Public News/Talk “LAist 89.3” KPCC is up 2.0 – 2.3 – 2.7

Chicago

93.9 Lite-FM Lite WLIT MyFM My-FM DelilahiHeartMedia AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT rises 7.3 to 8.0 to expand its lead to over two shares and sets a non-Christmas music record high for the station. Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV dips 5.9 to 5.7. Audacy AAA 93.1 WXRT is off from its 6.1 record high last month to a 5.1 share, which Huff notes is still the second highest in station history. Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS rises 4.5 to 4.8. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ holds at a 4.2 share.

Univsion Regional Mexican “Que Buena 105.1” WOJO rises 3.4 to 4.0. Audacy Country “US 99” WUSN trends up 2.9 – 3.4 – 3.5. iHeartMedia’s “Rock 95.5” WCHI is up 1.7 to 2.1.

iHeartMedia CHR “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC seesaws 2.9 – 4.3 – 2.7. Hubbard 90s/2000s Hits “The New 100.3” WSHE trends up 1.2 – 1.6. – 2.1. EMF Christian AC “K-Love” 97.9 WCKL is up 0.9 – 1.6 – 1.9.

San Francisco

Classical California 90.3 KDFC San FranciscoBonneville AC 96.5 KOIT retains its Bay Area lead 8.1 to 7.9. iHeartMedia Soft AC “98.1 The Breeze” KISQ rebounds up 4.4 – 6.5 – 6.9 for second. Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC dips 6.9 to 6.0. Public News/Talk 89.3 KQED-FM falls 6.1 to 4.6. iHeartMedia Hip Hop 106.1 KMEL rises 4.2 to 4.4.

Classical 90.3 KDFC rises 3.4 to 4.1 for what Huff notes is the highest share for the brand since it was on 102.1 in Holiday 2009.

With morning host Jeff ‘JV’ Vandergrift’s disappearance in the final week of the monthly, iHeartMedia CHR “Wild 94.9” KYLD rises 2.7 to 3.3.

Trending up in San Francsico: iHeartMedia Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI (3.4 – 3.6 – 4.1), Classic Hits “103.7 80s+” (2.3 – 2.5 – 3.0), Bonneville Adult R&B 102.9 KBLX (2.5 – 2.7 – 2.9), Audacy Variety Hits “105.3 Dave-FM” KITS (1.3 to 2.0 – its highest share since February 2020), and SBS Regional Mexican “La Raza 93.3” KRZZ (1.5 to 2.0).

Cumulus Sports 680 KNBR/104.5 KNBR-FM falls 3.9 to 2.3 to tie Audacy’s “95.7 The Game” KGMZ (2.7 to 2.3). Cumulus’ Sports Betting “810 The Spread” KGO falls from a 0.2 to 0.0 with Huff marking it as the first time in its history that the one-time dominant signal in the market failed to register.

Dallas/Fort Worth

For the second straight month Jazz “90.9 The Choice” KTSU sets a new station record high trending up 1.0 – 1.4 – 1.7.

Atlanta

Rock 100.5 99X WNNX Atlanta Leslie Fram Steve Barnes Jimmy Baron Axel Southside LyndseyCox Media Group has four of the top five stations in Atlanta with Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV leading down 8.3 to 7.6 (stream dropping 1.3 to 0.8). Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ places second 7.9 to 7.6. Cox News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB rises 6.3 to 7.2, while Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR rises 5.4 to 6.0 and AC “B98.5” WSB-FM slips 6.6 to 5.8.

Cumulus Alternative “99X” continues to surge up since its return in December moving 1.1 – 2.2 – 2.6 – 3.8. Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes that makes it the largest share for the “99X” brand since Summer 2002 and the largest share ever for the 100.5 frequency since its move into the Atlanta market in January 2001.

Radio One Gospel “Praise 102.5” WPZE trends up 1.5 – 2.4 – 2.9. Audacy Rhythmic AC “Star 94” WSTR rises 1.8 to 2.9.

Core Communicators Hip Hop “Streetz 94.5” 1420 WWSZ surges up 1.3 to 2.4.

Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH-FM falls 8.1 – 5.3 – 4.1. Radio One Hip Hop “Hot 107.9” WHTA dips 4.6 to 4.0. Both CHRs drop with Cumulus’ “Q99.7” WWWQ down 3.7 to 3.3 and iHeartMedia’s “Power 96.1” WWPW down 2.9 to 2.6.
