FCC Report 8/1: Hope Christian Church Surrenders One South Jersey FM To Upgrade Another

FCC Seal 2020 Federal Communications CommissionTwenty years after being forced by the U.S. Court of Appeals to suspend collection of annual gather workforce composition data from broadcasters until issues regarding confidentiality of the employment data were resolved, the FCC is opening a comment period to refresh the record regarding the collection of broadcaster workforce composition data and obtain further input on the legal, logistical, and technical issues surrounding FCC Form 395-B.


The FCC continues to reach consent decrees with operators over missing documents from their online political files. Each of the groups have agreed to admission of liability and compliance plans:

  • Brandy Communications licensee of KOFO Ottawa KS
  • Carter Broadcast Group, Inc. licensee of KPRS Kansas City MO
  • Flood Communications of Beatrice, LLC licensee of KWBE Beatrice and KUTT Fairbury NE
  • Flood Communications West, LLC licensee of KSID and KSID-FM Sidney NE
  • Legacy Communications, LLC licensee of KMTY Gibbon and KRGI and KRGI-FM Grand Island NE
  • McGrath Publishing Company licensee of KVSV and KVSV-FM Beloit KS
  • Reyes Media Group, Inc. licensee of KCZZ Mission and KDTD Kansas City KS
  • WJAG, Inc. licensee of KQKX and WJAG Norfolk NE and KEXL Pierce NE

The FCC has also entered into a consent decree with Donze Communications, Inc.’s 93.1 KBDZ Perryville MO for failure to maintain its online public file.

Dismissals

The FCC has dismissed Roy Henderson’s S Content Marketing’s June 2020 application to increase Country 98.3 KULM-FM Columbus TX from a Class A to C1 with a move to 98.7 due to failure to comply with spacing requirements and the involuntary channel substitution proposed for 98.7 KTXN-FM Victoria to 98.3.

Deletions

Confirming to the FCC that 1450 WMVA Martinsville VA has been silent since January 2019, Martinsville Media has surrendered that station’s license.

Hope Christian Church of Marlton’s has turned in the license of Christian “Hope-FM 90.5 WLOM Somers Point NJ. Hope Christian Church acquired then WXGN in 2020 for $100,000. The surrender of WLOM allows the church to upgrade one of its other stations (see below).
