FCC Report 1/30: Update On Phoenix Move-In Reimbursement Negotiations

FCC Actions

La Suavecita 106.9 KDVA 107.1 KVVA-FM Buckeye PhoenixThe FCC has denied Prescott Valley Broadcasting’s Application for Review and Entravision’s Request for Removal of Special Operating Condition and Issuance of Revised Construction Permit in regards to the pending frequency shifts involving Entravision’s “La Suavecita” 106.9 KDVA Buckeye AZ moving to 106.7 and Prescott Valley’s AC 106.7 KPPV Prescott to 106.7 allowing Entravision’s 107.1 KVVA-FM Apache Junction to move to Sun Lakes AZ operating from Phoenix’s South Mountain antenna farm.

Prescott Valley Broadcasting was seeking to reverse the FCC’s decision not to require the use of an escrow account with respect to the required reimbursement of costs for KPPV’s forced frequency change. Entravision sought to eliminate the requirement that they hold off on beginning program tests on KDVA until KPPV completed its move.

In order to move the proceeding forward, the FCC has ordered both companies to submit a written report within 30 days regarding the reimbursement negotiations. If they fail to reach an agreement within that time, Prescott Valley Broadcasting must submit a list of all expenses that it currently claims are reimbursable along with a justification and documentation to support the estimated cost of each expense. Entravision would then have 14 days to respond.

After the January 13 hearing to determine whether 93.3 WQZS Meyersdale PA owner Roger Wahl remains qualified to hold a station license was cancelled after he would be unable to attend the virtual conference due to a medical procedure, the FCC has rescheduled the hearing for March 8.

Unified Pentecostal Local Churches, Inc.’s 89.7 KWJP Paola KS has entered a Consent Decree for failing to maintain its online public file.
