Birmingham’s new BRMB is signing a number of ex-BBC midlands presenters for its weekend schedule, including Bob Brolly.
Bob presented a long-running afternoon programme on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, which aired for twelve years until 2013, as well as his Irish music show, which was first broadcast in the mid-90s. Bob’s Irish show will now air on BRMB on Sunday afternoons at 2pm.
Jimmy Franks is joining the team, initially on Saturday lunchtime. He spent some time as the BRMB flying eye and presented shows on Xtra-am, BRMB and BBC Radio WM.
Also joining the weekend team is Ryan Kennedy who has worked at various stations including BRMB in the 90s. He went on to be breakfast presenter on Beacon Radio and more recently, was on BBC Shropshire for over 10 years.
BRMB and Wyvern Programme Director, Paul Ellery says he’s hopes to bring in more ex-BBC midlands presenters to the stations he manages.
“We believe in proper local radio and bringing these presenters on board will help strengthen our community commitments even more and provide programming at all aspects of the local communities we serve,” he says.
Andre Stewart Daniel, a well-known local Birmingham actor, will also join the station this month. He’s recently been seen on Saturday nights on the TV show Champion. He’ll present a soul vibes and R&B show on Friday and Saturday evenings.
