Equity Completes South Jersey Sell-Off With WMID/WCMC Sale

Equity Communications has completed the sell-off of its properties in southern New Jersey with the sale of “Classic Oldies WMID” 1340 WMID Atlantic City/1230 WCMC Wildwood to Rick Brancadora’s The Jersey Giant WMID LLC for $50,000.

The sale follows Equity’s $2 million sale in August of four FMs to iHeartMedia. The company also has pending divestitures of WMID simulcaster 93.1 WEZV Wildwood Crest to Educational Media Foundation and 102.3 WAIV Cape May to Mighty Voice Broadcasting.

The two AMs will join Brancadora’s holdings of Classic Hits 94.3 WIBG-FM Avalon and recently flippedHot Country 101” 1020 WWAC Ocean City-Somers Point/101.3 W267BP Pleasantville/101.9 W270DV Palermo.

It will be licensed under The Jersey Giant WMID. LLC”

The Classic Oldies WMID has garnered historic following as the regions’ Classic Oldies station. “We intend to enhance and expand the local news and information programming component, while building on the legacy trademark of Equity’s Gary Fisher. “Gary’s historic track record in management and production development in New York City is pure legacy,” Brancadora commented.

Brancadora, a 57 year broadcast veteran maintains and expands his commitment to full service local radio and is bringing the local news trademarks his cluster of broadcast facilities are known for, to WMID1340 and WCMC 1230 as AM radio is experiencing a regeneration of followers. “These are legacy Jersey Shore stations that have been the mainstay of music entertainment and strong, pro active local newsradio,” Brancadora said.
