Educational Media Foundation has begun operating Redwood Empire Stereocasters CHR “106.3 The Beat” KJZY Cazadero/Santa Rosa CA with the station now running the Contemporary Worship “Air 1” network.
Owner Gordon Zlot told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, “We’re basically leasing the frequency to the Educational Media Foundation, based in Rocklin, near Sacramento,” and in regards to the CHR brand, “We couldn’t get any traction on that front. It was going nowhere for us.”
The Network Affiliation Agreement filed with the FCC shows that EMF will pay $6800 per month to lease the station starting May 1 under a three year term. The deal can be renewed for two additional terms with the second from May 2025 to April 2028 at the same monthly rate and the third being a four-year term from May 2028 to April 2032 at $7200 per month. Both will auto-renew unless EMF gives a 120 day cancellation notice.
EMF’s “K-Love” brand originated in the Santa Rosa market and continues to be heard on 91.9 KLVR Middletown.
The “Beat” CHR format debuted in July 2019 on 93.7 KJZY in August 2019 running Jamtraxx Media’s club mixed oriented SPiN-FM format. It was moved to 106.3 in February 2020 and has been running Westwood One’s CHR format since.
