Educational Media Foundation Purchases KTHT Houston

Country Legends 97.1 KTHT Houston Educational Media Foundation has agree to purchase Classic Country “Country Legends 97.1” KTHT Cleveland/Houston TX from Radio One’s Sugarland Station Trust for $3.1 million.

KTHT was one of two stations required to be divested following Radio One’s purchase of Cox Media Group’s Houston cluster, which is scheduled to close on Monday, July 31. Radio One paid $27.5 million for Country “93Q” 92.9 KKBQ Pasadena and Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK Lake Jackson/KHPT Conroe to add to their Hip Hop “97.9 The Box” KBXX Houston and Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ Houston. KTHT and Gospel “Praise 92.1” KROI Seabrook, which is set to be sold to Spanish Broadcasting System for $7.5 million.

KTHT will become EMF’s second signal in the Houston market joining “Air 1” 103.7 KHJK La Porte. It is expected KTHT will finally bring EMF’s “K-Love” network into Houston.
