Educational Media Foundation Acquires KXXF

105.3 Free KXXF Beaumont John Walton JohnsonEducational Media Foundation is acquiring Excel Media Variety Hits “Free 105.3” KXXF Winnie/Beaumont TX for $610,000.

The late John Walton of the syndicated “Walton & Johnson” show acquired the station from Univision in November 2013 for $525,000. He launched the station as “Free-FM” to serve as flagship of the morning show with the station later flipping to Classic Country before it moved back to Classic Hits following his death in 2019.

EMF has entered into a Network Affiliation Agreement to begin programming KXXF ahead of closing with the station set to join its “K-Love” network. Chambers County, where Winnie is located and Jefferson County where Beaumont are both part of the Houston DMA where EMF does not own the trademark to “K-Love” as Univision holds the rights to it for its former use on 106.5 KOVE Galveston. Andrew Guest of Guest Technology LLC served as broker for EMF.
