Cumulus Media has announced the promotion of Derek Madden to VP/Mainstream Rock Formats.
Madden will continue to serve as Operations Manager for the company’s Minneapolis cluster and Program Director of “93X” KXXR Minneapolis. Madden has also been corporate Rock and Alternative Program Director since 2013. He joined the company in 2011 as PD of Classic Rock “107.7 The Bone” KSAN San Francisco before moving to 95.5 KLOS Los Angeles in 2013 and then to KXXR in 2015. Prior to joining Cumulus, Madden began his career at 93.5 WVBR Ithaca NY and later programmed WRXR Augusta GA, WXZZ Lexington KY, and KSJO San Jose as well as serving as Music Director and on-air at “Live 105” KITS San Francisco from 2001-2009.

Madden rises from his previous role as Corporate Programmer, Rock & Alternative for Cumulus Media, a position he has held since 2014. Prior to joining 93X in March 2015, Madden was Program Director of KLOS-FM for Cumulus-Los Angeles.
