Demus productions has now made programmes for every BBC radio station, not including local stations.
This follows the latest production from the Glasgow based company, Archive On Four: The British Bhangra Explosion presented by Anita Rani for BBC Radio 4.
Producer Nick Low left BBC Radio Scotland in 1994 to set up the indie company, starting with the weekly commission of the Radio Scotland Saturday morning entertainment programme The Janice Forsyth Show which ran for 18 years.
Over the years Demus has produced every genre including music-based series and documentaries, investigations, historical documentaries and comedy.
The first network commission was a documentary on singer and manager George Elrick for BBC Radio 2 in 1995 which led to many other Radio 2 programmes.
For BBC Radio 1, Demus provided the programme Rewind Selecta – The Resurgence of Garage with Asha D in 2008, which was repeated on 1Xtra.
There have been productions for BBC World Service, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Ulster and Foyle last year. Demus has produced Gaelic Watchnight services for BBC Radio nan Gaidheal.
The company has also produced Asian music programmes for BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Asian Network.
With its latest production, the story of The British Bhangra Explosion for BBC Radio 4 broadcast on 8th April, Demus Productions founder Nick Low says it’s the final BBC radio network they’ve produced for, and he thinks that it’s a record.
