Dale Dudley Exits KLBJ-FM Mornings After Nearly 35 Years

Waterloo Media Classic Rock 93.7 KLBJ-FM Austin morning host Dale Dudley has exited the station months shy of his 35th anniversary.

Dudley shared on Facebook that he was fired at the end of todays show. He originally joined KLBJ-FM in 1987 and had teamed with Bob Fonseca since 1992 mostly in mornings outside of a stretch in afternoons from February 2020 until February 2021. Early in his career, Dudley spent time at KTBB Tyler, KYKX Longview, and KFMX Lubbock TX.

In a statement to the Austin Chronicle, Waterloo Media SVP/Market Manager Scott Gilmore stated that Dudley’s contract was not renewed as opposed to being fired. They wrote, “Dale Dudley was on KLBJ-FM for just over 34 years and we greatly appreciate his years of entertaining generations of Austin audiences. Dale fearlessly talked about his personal life journeys with wit and passion. Dale was not fired – it’s just time for the station to try something a little different and Dale’s contract was not renewed. We hope listeners will tune into 93.7 in the coming weeks to see what develops.”

Gilmore confirmed to the Chronicle that Fonseca and producer Eric ‘Chuy’ Alderete will remain in mornings.
