Cuts Hit Beasley Philadelphia

97.5 The Fanatic WPEN-FM PhiladelphiaA round of layoffs hit Beasley Media Philadelphia this morning.

The higher profile cuts came from Sports “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN-FM Burlington NJ with afternoon co-host Hunter Brody and APD/morning show producer Eric ‘Coach’ Camille departing the station.

Brody had been part of the “The Best Show Ever” in afternoons alongside Tyrone Johnson, Ricky Botallico, and Jennifer Scordo since its launch last August. He previously was a weekend host at the station and co-hosted afternoons at Townsquare Media’s “97.3 ESPN” WENJ Millville/Atlantic City NJ in addition to hosting and producing local sports podcasts.

Camille had been with WPEN-FM since 2009 in various show producer roles and rose to Assistant Program Director in 2018. He also served as Executive Producer on the station’s John Kincade hosted morning show.

We have also been told additional cuts were made across the cluster including in the digital department.

Addressing the cuts at the station on air today, afternoon host Tyrone Johnson commented, “It makes me extremely sad, and upsetting for it to happen. I’m not happy about it. I know my program director is not overly happy about it, but this is the profession that we chose. And this is where we are employed.” A Beasley spokesperson stated, “The post-Covid months have been a particularly challenging time in our industry. Like other media companies, our markets have been directly impacted due to these uncertain economic conditions. As a result, we have proactively adjusted our operations accordingly to reflect the current financial climate.”
