Cox Media Group has announced new format leaders for Country and Rock.
Steve Stewart, who serves as Director of Operations for Orlando Radio and Program Director for Country “K92.3” WWKA Orlando, will serve as Director of Country Content. Chris Lloyd, Director of Operations for Long Island and Program Director of Classic Rock 102.3 WBAB and CHR 106.1 WBLI, will serve as Director of Rock Content.
Stewart has been with WWKA since 2019. He has previously programmed WEBG Chicago, KSD-FM & KLOU St. Louis, WTNR Grand Rapids and held roles as Director of Operations for Qantum Communications Myrtle Beach and Midwest Mgr Of Country Programming for Citadel Broadcasting. He succeeds former Houston Director of Operations Johnny Chiang in the role leading Country for Cox.
Lloyd joined Cox in 2006 to program WBAB. He was promoted to Director of Operations in 2020 and added WBLI’s programming duties last year. He has also programmed WQXA York and WBSX Scranton PA. He succeeds Keith Hastings overseeing Rock following Hastings exit from San Antonio to program Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV Chicago.
Cox Media Group (“CMG”) today announced that Steve Stewart has been promoted to Director of Country Content, and Chris Lloyd has been elevated to Director of Rock Content, both effective immediately. Stewart and Lloyd will oversee content, programming, and brand strategies for the company’s 11 rock and 5 country format stations.
Since 2019, Stewart has served as Director of Operations for Orlando Radio and Program Director for WWKA. Throughout his career, he has held programming roles in Chicago, St. Louis, Grand Rapids, among others. Additionally, he currently hosts the nationally syndicated live country show “The Road” through United Stations Radio Networks.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to collaborate with our programming leaders and the Country community as a whole,” said Stewart. “CMG Country has a rich history with our listeners in our local markets, and it’s a thrill that I get to help grow our Country brands with the fans, advertisers and our partners.”
Lloyd joined CMG in 2006 as Program Director for the legendary WBAB. In 2020, he was named Director of Operations for CMG Radio Long Island and added programming responsibilities for 106.1 BLI in 2021.
