Comedian and writer Charlie Higson returns to Scala Radio

Comedy writer and performer Charlie Higson has returned to Scala Radio to present a second series of Charlie Higson and Friends.

Each week, the comedian is joined by a fellow comedian and friend to share their favourite classical music.

Charlie, co-creator of The Fast Show and author of the Young Bond and Enemy series, is a passionate classical music fan and in Charlie Higson and Friends, he selects his favourite classical pieces and recent musical discoveries, while inviting his guest to do the same.

In the first episode, which aired on January 1st, satirist and writer Armando Iannucci joined Charlie to talk about his pioneering BBC shows such as The Day Today and The Thick of It, along with his role as co-creator of comedy character Alan Partridge.

In upcoming episodes, Charlie will be joined by comedian and actor Harry Enfield (8th January), actress and stand-up comedian Lucy Porter (15th January), and comedian and actor Simon Day (22nd January), with each guest discussing their careers as well as their own journeys into the world of classical music.

Charlie Higson and Friends is a four-part radio series broadcasting on Sundays 6-8pm. The programmes will be made into podcasts featuring additional, non-broadcast speech content, and these will be available at the end of January.

The first episode is available to listen to here.
