BBC Radio 5 Live’s Colin Murray is swapping weeknights for weekends to host two new shows.
The former Fighting Talk host will be on-air Sunday 10am till 2pm and Friday afternoons 2pm till 4pm starting on January 12th 2024.
Elis and John, currently in the Friday slot, will be moved to a one hour show starting at 1pm with a best of podcast feature instead of a live show.
The move means a new host for weeknights 10pm till 1am with details being announced in the near future.
Colin’s new show each Sunday will be produced by Underground Fan Club, a female-led indie production company run by Charlie Copsey.
On taking up the new challenge, Colin said: “Leaving Weeknights has been a really difficult decision. I love my listeners, but personal scheduling issues meant a change was needed, and I’m delighted to be popping up on Friday afternoons and launching a new Sunday morning show on BBC5 Live which will sit perfectly between our weekend breakfast and Premier League Sundays. Can’t wait!”
Heidi Dawson, Controller of 5 Live said: “I can’t wait to hear Colin on a Sunday morning every week. It will be the perfect way to kick-off our extensive sports coverage and commentaries on a Sunday.”
