City, University of London to host panel discussion on podcasting

City, University of London is hosting a panel discussion event on the world of podcasting.

It’s to promote the launch of the first dedicated MA for Podcasting alongside a Centre of Podcasting Excellence.

In this session, there will be some leading industry figures talking about the huge growth in the industry and the wide range of careers now available in this rapidly growing sector.

They will share their experiences in the industry so far and talk about the opportunities going forward.

It’s open to both students and the wider podcasting industry, and is a taster for the monthly events they will be kicking off in the autumn along with live podcasting recordings.

The panel is made up of:

Bernard P Achampong is an advocate for diversity and representation in the creative industry as well as an advocate for creator ownership and intellectual property. He is currently vice-chair of Audio UK. His production company, Unedited, produces programming including Spotify’s Sounds of Black Britain and BBC’s 1Xtra Talks as well as delivering Spotify’s Sound Up programme for the UK and Ireland.

Hannah Russell is the founder of Mags Creative, a podcast company making shows exclusively for the likes of Spotify, BBC and Amazon Music, as well as making branded content for top-tier businesses such as Pinterest, Meta and Puffin.

Olly Mann has been podcasting since 2007 – his shows include ‘Answer Me This!’ (Best Podcast, Sony Radio Academy Awards), ‘The Modern Mann’ (Best Interview, British Podcast Awards) and ‘The Week Unwrapped’ (Best Current Affairs, Publisher Podcast Awards). His latest show is a daily ten-minute podcast ‘The Retrospectors’.

Lizzy Pollott is an SVP of Acast and leads all marketing, PR and brand work. She oversees a network of over 90,000 podcasts and is a creative marketer with over 15 years’ experience in driving business growth through innovative strategies on and offline.
