Church Of Lazlo To Depart Detroit & Las Vegas

The Church of Lazlo is shrinking in both market count and team members.

The afternoon show based at Audacy Alternative “Alt 96.5” KRBZ Kansas City will no longer be heard on “Alt 98.7” WDZH Detroit and “Alt 107.5” KXTE Las Vegas after today’s show.

Julia Lepidi, who joined from Detroit following the flip of WDZH to Alternative in November 2020, will no longer be heard on the show. She will continue to be heard on all but one of Audacy’s Top 40 stations and told listeners she believes she will be continue to be on WDZH as well.

The show has also indicated to listeners that they are not fully aware of their status in Kansas City stating, “We don’t know if we’ll be on in Kansas City. But we haven’t been told we won’t be.” That is with the station promoting a “Church of Lazlo 20th Anniversary Concert” for December. Lazlo mentioned they want to stay in Kansas City, but there are options on the table to move to other markets.

Soctt ‘Lazlo’ Geiger joined KRBZ in 2002 as evening host before quickly rising to Program Director and afternoon host. Outside of a stretch from 2006 to 2008 where the show was based at “107.7 The End” KNDD Seattle and syndicated back to Kansas City, he has been based in the market. The show would then be syndicated to “Alt 103.7” KVIL Dallas and KXTE in September 2020 and added WDZH the following January. KVIL would drop the show in November 2021.

KRBZ has also begun to phase back in its former “Buzz” branding with many sweepers stating “Alt 96.5 Kansas City’s Buzz”.
