Chio Acosta Retires From Mornings At WOKQ

The artist formerly known as ‘Chio The Hitman’ is retiring from mornings at Townsquare Media Country 97.5 WOKQ Portsmouth NH ending a 37 year radio career.

Before joining WOKQ in March 2019, Chio Acosta spent most of his career bouncing between Philadelphia and San Diego. He began his career at WCAC Sebring FL and has worked at WZAT Savannah, KPTY Phoenix, nights at “Z100” WHTZ New York, had multiple runs in San Diego with time at “Magic 92.5” XHRM, “Channel 93.3” KHTS-FM, “Jammin 95.7” KSSX, and “Q106” KKLQ and in Philadelphia at CHR “Q102” WIOQ with time in nights, afternoons and mornings, mornings at Rhythmic CHR “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM, and mornings at Classic Hip-Hop “Real 106.1” WISX.

In a note on WOKQ’s website Acosta stated, “My daughter and her husband live in the home I own in New Jersey. My wife and I wanna be full-time grandparents, we don’t wanna miss 1 second of Baby Bodhi growing up. Also, my oldest and his fiance are having a baby as well, due in January. The people that we love the most we were spending the least amount of time with and that just didn’t make any sense. My life is my family. I have decided to retire from the radio to spend more time with family.”

Co-host Kira Lew, who has been with WOKQ since 2016 will remain.
