Cheshire’s Silk Radio celebrates 25 years on-air with DAB launch

Macclesfield and East Cheshire’s Silk Radio is marking its 25th anniversary with an expansion of its coverage broadcasting on DAB.

The station, which launched on 25 May 1998, is now available on DAB digital on the South Cheshire and Moorlands multiplexes.

As part of the celebrations, the station aired nostalgic clips from the past 25 years, interviews with former presenters and staff, and messages from local celebrities and dignitaries.

Silk Radio’s CEO Chris Hurst said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th birthday with such a significant milestone for the station.

“DAB digital radio will allow us to reach more listeners than ever before and offer them a better sound quality and more choice.

“We are proud of our heritage as Cheshire’s local radio station, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community with great music, news and information for many more years to come.”
