CCUK becomes a fully carbon neutral media and radio owner

CCUK, previously known as Communicorp UK, has become a fully carbon-neutral business.

The company says the first step was to engage Carbon Neutral Britain (CNB) to audit its carbon impact, in line with internationally recognised standards, before committing to projects across the globe which have offset 100% of all carbon emissions emitted each year.

This follows the launch of CCUK’s Environmental Pledges at the end of 2022, which encouraged staff to make small changes to limit their impact on the planet. So far, more than 160 individual commitments have been made by our teams across the UK.

Tom Williams, Managing Director of subsidiary business GOMO, who has been working with stakeholders across the organisation to help reduce environmental impact, said: “I am proud that CCUK has committed to do better for the planet. We know that our listeners and those who work for us want us to do more to limit our environmental impact. This is an important first step to becoming a greener and more sustainable CCUK.”

The company has also committed to changing its company car fleet to fully electric alternatives as existing lease agreements finish.

CCUK runs a number of radio stations using Global brands Heart, Capital and Smooth, along with XS Manchester. In 2019, it launched three subsidiary businesses, Mindfield, GOMO and Voiceworks.
