FCC Report 10/3: Crawford Surrenders Portland AM After Failing To Find Buyer

Crawford Broadcasting surrendered the license of 1330 KKPZ Portland OR after being unable to find a buyer. Crawford took KKPZ silent at the end of April. Crawford sold KKPZ’s translator 97.5 K248DD Portland OR this week to Kris Bennett Broadcasting for $50,000.

Zip2 LLC’s CP for 850 WXPA Enola PA has expired unbuilt. WXPA was to triplex on the site of 580 WHP Harrisburg where 720 WHYF Shiremanstown also holds a construction permit.

Merchant Broadcasting’s 1310 KEZM Sulphur LA’s license was cancelled for being silent since August 2020. KEZM’s antenna was destroyed by Hurricane Laura, and in its STA extension application in April stated evaluation of the situation and potential repairs continued.

FCC Actions
The FCC’s Media Bureau has issued a reminder that the window to file 2021 broadcast biennial ownership reports opened on October 1 and runs through December 1.

All licensees of commercial and non-commercial full power television, Class A television, low power television, AM radio, and FM radio stations are required to file the reports in odd numbered years. A live public information session will be held on Tuesday, October 5 on the FCC’s YouTube channel and archived afterwards.

The FCC issued and quickly revoked a $3000 fine against Carlos Lopez’s 95.9 K240FC Conroe and 104.7 K284DB South Padre Island TX for failing to timely file license renewal applications. The FCC stated that both translators were supposed to file renewal applications by April 1, however failed to note that both translators did not receive their licenses until May 14.

The FCC has entered into a Consent Decree and issued a $500 fine to Northern Montana College’s 90.1 KNMC Havre MT for failing to file a timely license renewal and maintain their online public file.

St. Macrina Media and Education Society’s 91.9 KTRU La Harpe KS agreed to a Consent Decree for failing to maintain its online public file.

CD Broadcasting’s 104.9 KLMJ Hampton IA entered into a Consent Decree for failing to maintain its political files.

AM Changes
