New Premier League football rights deals have been agreed for BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.

BBC Sport has secured four of the six audio packages available, meaning that from next year, 5 Live will have live commentary of 209 matches per season.
Every week, at least five of ten fixtures will be available on 5 Live and BBC Sounds, including exclusive commentary to both Saturday 3pm matches.
talkSPORT and talkSPORT2 have retained rights to weeknight Premier League games, including all the action from Monday Night Football and four exclusive midweek rounds, as well as retaining 12:30pm games on Saturdays.
Heidi Dawson, Controller of BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra says: “With more live commentary matches than ever before, BBC Radio 5 Live remains the home of Premier League football.
“For the next four years 5 Live will bring football fans the biggest games across the weekend, with all the drama and excitement from the world’s greatest football league.”
For talkSPORT, News UK EVP President of Broadcasting, Scott Taunton said: “We continue our partnership as the Premier League’s only national commercial radio partner bringing all the action across weeknights, including Monday night football, as well as kicking off the weekend with the exclusive Saturday lunchtime game.
“Our peerless presenting and commentary teams across talkSPORT and talkSPORT2 provide best-in-class live coverage to millions of football fans throughout the UK for the Premier League, as well as games across all major football tournaments.”

Radiocentre is returning to Manchester for Tuning In North 2025 with Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, The Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP already lined up.

Lisa Nandy was appointed Secretary of State for DCMS in July 2024 and has been MP for Wigan since 2010.
Tuning In North is part of Radiocentre’s nationwide event series to showcase the latest developments in radio and audio advertising and brands, agencies and Radiocentre member stations from across the North of England can register now to secure a free place.
Beginning with a networking breakfast, the morning will be filled with thought-provoking speakers, exciting new research, inspiring case studies, best practice creative, and more.
A full agenda for the event, which is happening on 13th March 2025 and also available to watch online, will be released in the coming months.

Kimberly Wyatt is joining Hits Radio to host The Hits Radio Throwback each Sunday at 7pm.
The former Pussycat Doll joined Fleur East on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show this morning to share the news.
She said: “The cat is finally out of the bag! It’s so awesome to be part of the family… I’m so excited it’s like a new little adventure.
“I’ve been DJing for quite some time but to be able to spend some time with everybody on a Sunday and play some of my favourite tunes – I’m really looking forward to it.
Kimberly also teased what people can expect from the show: ‘There’ll be a little bit of PCD of course, but lots of Noughties, lots of hits – keep it fun for a Sunday!
“I’ll be bringing music, fun, stories… Music takes you back to moments and memories, so to live in that again and share some of that will be fun.”

Pure West Radio has launched on both the North Pembrokeshire and South Pembrokeshire DAB digital radio multiplexes.

This milestone for the station takes it from an online service to one that can be heard across its coverage area on terrestrial radio.
“Launching on DAB marks an important chapter in Pure West Radio’s journey,” says Toby Ellis, Station Manager.
“Our goal has always been to keep Pembrokeshire connected and bring our communities closer together. Expanding to DAB allows us to reach new listeners across the county and provide them with the local stories, news, and music they love.”
The station will be celebrating the launch day today with a special lineup of programs, featuring live interviews, local music, and exclusive content.

Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi has become a patron of Radio Caroline’s charity MV Ross Revenge.

The charity was established two years ago to drive fundraising efforts to restore and preserve the historic former pirate radio ship, Ross Revenge.
Rossi lends his support the charity at a pivotal moment, with Ross Revenge needing urgent structural repairs in dry dock to secure its future as a key piece of broadcast history.
“The Ross Revenge is more than just a ship, it is an important part of British musical history that deserves to be preserved,” said Francis Rossi.
“Radio Caroline allowed many bands like ours to be heard – and I am glad now to repay the favour by lending my own voice in support of this project.”
Radio Caroline station manager Peter Moore said: “We are thrilled to welcome Francis Rossi as a patron for this important cause. His support, along with the public’s generosity, is essential to protect Ross Revenge and all it represents.
“We’re determined to secure a future for this legendary ship, and with Francis on board, we’re confident that our goal will resonate with even more people.”
Radio Caroline’s new charity initiative aims to generate the support needed to cover dry docking costs and conduct essential repairs that will extend the ship’s life for years to come.

Nicki Chapman is joining Magic Radio to host Mellow Magic Monday to Thursdays from 8pm.

The presenter, broadcaster and author has most recently been working at BBC Radio 2, and is well known for her television work.
As well as Mellow Magic, Nicki will also host a series of music specials and long-form interviews across the year for Magic.
Current weekday Mellow Magic presenter Lynn Parsons will move to present the show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Jen Thomas will also remain part of the Mellow Magic family elsewhere.
Nicki said: “I’m honoured to be presenting Mellow Magic at the start of next year – it’s such an iconic show & brand.
“I’m really looking forward to playing some of the world’s greatest songs each night – many of which I’ve been involved in – and becoming friends with the listeners, however they’re spending their evenings.”
