Caroline Community Radio changes its name after getting extra frequency

Caroline Community Radio has a new name and extra FM frequency to cover a wider area.

The station, which serves Maldon, Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex and the surrounding towns and villages, re-launched as Caroline Coastal FM during a guest live broadcast from Radio Caroline’s radio ship Ross Revenge on the River Blackwater at the weekend.

Caroline Coastal FM says it plays a 24-hour mix of music and community programmes and will also relay Radio Caroline programmes overnight from Monday to Saturday and all-day Sunday.

The station now broadcasts to the Maldon District and the Essex coast on the new frequency 104.7 FM, in addition to 94.7 FM, and online at carolinecoastal.co.uk.

“We’ve got a new name, some new voices and an additional frequency,” said assistant station manager Josh Holmes-Bright. “We are also planning to attend a number of local community events in the summer and we look forward to meeting listeners.”

The community station launched in October 2020 and is supported by Radio Caroline, benefiting from the experience and expertise of the former offshore pirate radio station in areas such as programming, engineering and training.
