The Cane & Corey Show has been let go from Audacy Alternative “Alt 92.3” WNYL New York.
The duo were also heard on Audacy’s “Alt 98.7” WDZH Detroit and “104.3 The Shark” WSFS Miami. They were quietly dropped from “FM 101.9” WQMP Orlando recently and were heard in Baltimore and Buffalo before those stations flipped earlier this year.
In a podcast released today, they state that they were let go for uploading a podcast including the duo and producer Jai to Apple and Spotify last night as a breach of contract. The show had been previously suspended for two weeks for airing a curse word on the show and lying to management to cover it up. Cane stated that they were off this week as well because Audacy is implementing a vaccine mandate and none of them intended to get vaccinated.
They state that they wanted to do a podcast during the three weeks they were off the air and intend to move their show to a Patreon based subscription model. They mention the rumors that News 1010 WINS could be moving to 92.3, stating that they’ve been threatened for the past six months with the station being blown up and that the company did not pay anybody more when they were added in the additional markets or when Corey was promoted from afternoons to mornings in September 2020.
Cane joined WNYL in July 2018 after previously hosting nights at Hot AC 102.7 WNEW. He previously hosted nights and afternoons at the station during its “K-Rock” heyday along with Lee ‘Crazie Cabbie’ Mroszak. Peterson also has worked at VH-1, multiple outlets in the Minneapolis market and WNEW from 2014-2108 with stints in mornings, afternoons, and nights.
Corey B joined WNYL at the end of 2018 as afternoon host. He previously hosted nights at CHR “B96” WBBM-FM Chicago and “B97” WEZB New Orleans after starting his career as a part-timer at WFLZ Tampa.
