Bobby Caldwell’s Bobby D. Caldwell Revocable Trust will acquire six stations in northeastern Arkansas from various holding companies of Harold Sudbury for $1.1 million.
The deal includes Phoenix Broadcasting Group’s Hip Hop “K-Jam 93.9” KAMJ Gosnell and Silent KQXF Osceola, Sudbury Services’ “Thunder Country 96.3” KHLS Blytheville, and Newport Broadcasting Company’s Silent trio of KOKR Newport, 860 KOSE Wilson, and 1280 KNBY Newport. Caldwell also advanced to Sudbury the money for the stations’ regulatory fees and will assist in getting the four silent properties back on the air ahead of closing.
Caldwell owns 29 stations across Arkansas under various license holding companies that operates as “East Arkansas Broadcasters”. The company also owns statewide news, farm, and sports networks and has additional acquisitions awaiting FCC approval.
Sudbury retains Newport Broadcasting Company’s 104.9 KHPA and 1490 KXAR Hope AR, which also both went silent in July due to storm damage.
