After agreeing to purchase Frontier Media LLC’s stations in Texarkana AR/TX and Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka AK last month, BTC USA Holdings Management, Inc. has agreed to purchase five stations in Northern Michigan.
The company, led by 107.9 KUZZ-FM Bakersfield morning host Cliff Dumas, will acquire J&J Broadcasting’s Hot AC “Mix 93.5” WKMJ-FM Hancock, Classic Rock “The Storm” 99.7 WIMI Ironwood, Classic Country “US 59” 590 WJMS/92.1 W221EH Ironwood, and Conservative Talk/Sports 920 WMPL/107.3 W297CD Hancock and SNRN Broadcasting’s Country “Y101” 101.1 WUPY Ontonagon MI serving the western part of the Upper Peninsula for $1.3 million. Both sellers are led by Gerald Hackman.
Dumas owns 80% of the buyer, with the Bryan Woodruff led Local First Media Group holding the other 20 percent. In addition to hosting mornings at KUZZ, Dumas is a co-founder and Chief Content Officer of Pattison Media’s Everything Podcasts. He has also hosted mornings at KRST Albuquerque and spent a decade at KSON San Diego. Dumas is a member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame for hosting mornings at KHAM Hamilton and CISS-FM Toronto, was the voice of CMT Canada and the Canadian Country Music Awards, and produced and hosted many Canadian Country music specials.
