Boom Radio is marking 60 years of Motown with a special tribute on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.
The station will be celebrating the music of The Supremes, The Temptations, The Miracles, Martha and the Vandellas and many more.
Dame Jenni Murray joins the station to play her favourites and reflect on the memories the tracks hold for her, from 6pm.
Len Groat explores the hits and rarities from the formative 1959-67 Motown era, whilst Dave Brown delves into the back catalogue from 1968 onwards.
In the lead-up to the evening’s dedicated Motown programmes, David Hamilton will include his favourites too. He says: “Can there be any more timeless music than that of Motown? Music that made you want to dance with joy or tugged at your heartstrings.
“It has enriched my radio shows for 60 years now. One of the best concerts I ever saw was Jr. Walker and the All Stars at the Rainbow, Finsbury Park”.
