Bolton FM resolves issues with Ofcom over licence breach

The management at Bolton FM was surprised to see on RadioToday this week that the station was in breach of its licence conditions.

They’ve been in touch with Ofcom about the situation and due to confusion over the station’s contact details, no requests for data was received.

The station immediately set about providing the information and has completed all the forms to Ofcom within 24 hours.

Andrew Dickson, Bolton FM’s Chairman explains more: “When we read in Radio Today that Bolton FM was in serious and fundamental breach of our Ofcom licence for not submitting our financial reports on time I was very surprised.

“We contacted Ofcom immediately to find out what was going on as we are seriously proud of our 12 years broadcasting and growing our listenership and consider ourselves one of the best community radio stations in the UK with a healthy balance sheet and this was the first we had heard about any breach.

“Due to some confusion on our contact details we had not received the forms and in less than 24 hours we had received, completed and returned them to Ofcom who have assured us that they have been well received and have updated their contacts with us.

“To anyone concerned about Bolton FM I can assure them we are alive and well and continue to serve the local community of Bolton.”
