Maryland Media One Oldies “Carolina Gold” 93.9 WMIR-FM Conway/Myrtle Beach and 106.3 WYAY Bolivia/Wilmington NC has announced the addition of Bob Vandergrift as morning host starting Monday, September 6.
Vandergrift joins Carolina Gold after most recently serving as morning host at Soft AC “Easy 105.9” WEZV Myrtle Beach. He has also programmed WBBE and WVMG Bloomington IL and held APD and on-air roles at WOMC Detroit, KLIO Wichita, WZLR Dayton and WBBG Youngstown. The area native began his career at WYAV Myrtle Beach.
The remainder of the WMIR-FM/WYAY on-air lineup will feature Joanna Campbell in middays from 10-3pm, Pat Gwinn in afternoons from 3-7pm, and Dennis Mitchell from 7-11pm.
Carolina Gold (WMIR-FM 93.9-Conway, SC and WYAY-FM 106.3 Boliva, NC) has named Bob Vandergrift as the new morning show host. Bob will host the Gold Wake Up Show weekdays from 6am-10am, starting Labor Day Monday, September 6. The Gold Wake Up Show will feature local and statewide news, weather, sports, contests and exclusive local content relevant to our listeners on the Grand Strand and in Wilmington, NC.
Bob is a Conway, South Carolina native and most recently hosted the morning show and was program director of Easy 105.9, serving the Myrtle Beach market. Bob has also worked in Wichita, Bloomington, IL, and WOMC In Detroit, where Bob hosted the night show and was Assistant Program Director. Bob is a Conway, South Carolina native. “I am beyond thrilled to join the Carolina Gold team. Thanks to Steve Clendenin and all who made it possible. It’s my all-time favorite format and to get to do it in my hometown is pretty special,” announced Vandergrift.

Carolina Gold’s schedule will feature Bob Vandergrift 6-10am, Joanna Campbell 10am-3pm, Pat Gwinn 3pm-7pm and Dennis Mitchell 7pm-11pm. Carolina Gold launched on WMIR-FM 93.9, licensed to Conway, SC and serving the Myrtle Beach market, along with WYAY-FM 106.3, licensed to Boliva, NC, serving the Wilmington, NC market on May 15th and is the only station featuring an Oldies format in both markets. Carolina Gold focuses on music from the 60s, and 70s and airs a great deal of local information, such as news, weather, sports and community events. Both WMIR-FM and WYAY-FM is owned by Maryland Media One, LLC, which also owns and operates WHGM-AM and translators in the Baltimore, MD market, as well as WXJX-AM and WCNS-AM, with translators, in the Pittsburgh market.
