My Town Media Inc. has begun the relaunch of its recently acquired Wichita KS cluster with the return of Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KBOB-FM Haven.
The “Bob-FM” brand had been heard on the former KIBB beginning in 2008 though the collapse of the previous cluster sale to Allied Media Partners in September 2019. The station has been mostly silent or running filler programming since then.
The new Wichita cluster will operate under the name Murfin Media as the Wichita based Murfin Inc. conglomerate is the primary shareholder in My Town Media. The company acquired KBOB-FM and 92.7 KWME Wellington, 100.5 KVWF Augusta, 1130 KLEY/100.3 K262CQ Wellington, and 1550 KKLE Winfield for a combined $1.18 million in the bankruptcy auction for Rocking M Media’s properties last fall.
John Pohlman has joined Murfin Media as General Manager of the Wichita cluster. Pohlman joins the company from Audacy Wichita where he has served on the sales team since 2004. He previously was General Manager of Christian AC “Light 99” KTLI El Dorado/Wichita from 1991 until its sale to Educational Media Foundation in 2004.
The launch of “Bob-FM” follows the company’s flips of 90s Rock “Z107.5” 1550 KRZD/107.5 K298CI Springfield MO and “Radio X 103.5” KWXD Asbury/Joplin MO to the Kroeger Media format last week.
