Bloomberg Radio has cancelled its Boston area local afternoon show “Baystate Business” that had been airing on the combo of Beasley Media Group’s 1330 WRCA Watertown/106.1 W291CZ Boston, 92.9 WBOS-HD2 Brookline, and Bloomberg owned 1450 WNBP Newburyport/92.1 W221EE Topsfield/106.1 W291CC Haverhill MA.
The Boston Globe reports that hosts Kim Carrigan, Tom Moroney, and Joe Shortsleeve have exited the station along with local reporters Anne Mostue and Janet Wu, and executive producer Peter Lagace. Bloombergs’ national “Bloomberg Businessweek” is now running in the 2-5pm timeslot.
In an internal memo received by The Boston Business Journal, Bloomberg global head of audio Anthony Mancini stated “We have made the decision to replace our local afternoon radio program in Boston with our network Bloomberg Businessweek show, effective today. We will redeploy these resources into on-demand audio and podcasts, as well as live video streaming of our national product.” The memo also stated that the company would increase “integration between the podcast and radio teams with shared programming, joint projects, and more video” in the coming months.
Bloomberg has leased WRCA/W291CZ/WBOS-HD2 from Beasley since July 2017. The company would acquire WNBP and its translators later that year. Bloomberg also owns 1130 WBBR New York and leases Audacy’s 99.1 WDCH Bowie MD/Washington DC and iHeartMedia’s 960 KNEW San Francisco to carry its 24/7 Business programming.
