Following his departure on Friday from Audacy Rock 99.9 KISW Seattle, BJ Shea has jumped across town to mornings at iHeartMedia Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK starting Monday, January 8.
He will be joined by incumbent co-host Sarah Schiller. Sarah joined KZOK in 2011 along with Danny Bonaduce, whose retirement opened the door for Shea. She has also co-hosted mornings at WYSP Philadelphia with Bonaduce and held mutliple roles at “92.3 K-Rock” WXRK New York and WFNX Boston under the on-air name Danni.
Shea has been in Seattle since 1999 when he joined then Hot Talk “100.7 The Buzz” KQBZ before being fired and rehired the following year. Following the demise of KQBZ at the end 2005, Shea moved to mornings at co-owned KISW in January 2006 where he remained until last Friday. Shea began his career at multiple stations in the Boston area before joining Brother Wease’s Show at WCMF Rochester NY. He would depart in 1992 for stints at KRQR San Francisco, WIVY Jacksonville, and KZZP Phoenix before returning to WCMf as afternoon host in 1997.
Shea was introduced to KZOK listeners this morning in a pre-recorded interview with Bonaduce.
iHeartMedia Seattle and 102.5 KZOK, Seattle’s Classic Rock, announced today that Seattle radio icon B.J. Shea will join the “B.J. & Sarah Mornings,” beginning January 8, 2024. “B.J Shea and Sarah Mornings” will broadcast weekdays from 6 am to 10 am.
B.J. Shea joins the 102.5 KZOK morning team from Audacy Seattle outlet KISW, where he served as the Morning Host for 17 years. He has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1999.
“I am so humbled and excited to work for the best company in our business. This was indeed an elusive career bucket list item that I’m thrilled to check off,” said B.J. Shea. “I love radio and I love Seattle, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to keep entertaining the Puget Sound with Sarah, who is an amazing talent. We are gonna have so much fun!”
Co-host Sarah has been with 102.5 KZOK since 2011, in the role she had beside Danny Bonaduce for the past 14 years when the duo was originally paired in Philadelphia. This new show combines the best of Seattle morning radio for listeners.
“I have been part of KZOK with Danny Bonaduce for the past 12 years and thought, there’s no way they’ll find someone who can fill his shoes. No one who lives, eats, sleeps and breathes the Seattle area like that. But I was wrong,” said Sarah. “I am SO excited for the next chapter with Seattle radio legend B.J. Shea. We are going to have so much fun…once I’ve had several cups of coffee.”
“The idea that after working with a legend like Danny Bonduce another one walks through the front door of iHeartMedia Seattle is just incredible. I have been a fan of B.J Shea for years and now to work beside him for the next chapter of KZOK is awesome!” said Chris Sargent, Programming Director for 102.5 KZOK.
“I’m forever grateful to have gotten to work with Danny Bonaduce on KZOK, and I’m extremely excited to bring B.J. into our building to help with the next chapter on the legendary KZOK. He will join and help us reload the best morning shows in Seattle under one roof,” said Rich Moore, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Seattle.
BJ Shea, Danny Bonaduce and Sarah Schiller are represented by Paul Anderson of Workhorse Media.
