After almost nineteen years at iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS Denton/Dallas TX, Billy The Kidd departed the station at the end of February for a yet-to-be announced position within the company.
Outside of a six month stint in nights at “Z100” WHTZ New York in 2009, Billy has been with KHKS since 2004. He first served as MD/night host, but rose to afternoon host following his return and previously held Assistant Program Director duties. He also hosted a separate morning show for “96.7 Kiss-FM” KHFI Austin from 2016 until 2021. He started his career at CHR 93.1 WDRQ Detroit in 1998 and then worked at CHRs “Hot 100” and “Wild 100” KRBV Dallas until their flip to “Jack-FM” in 2004. He also released a single, “Country Girl” under the name ‘DF Dub’ in 2003.
In an Instagram post sharing an internal memo redacting his upcoming destination, Billy writes, “I’m blessed to have been on some of the best radio stations in the world, but Kiss was incredibly special. I would say 19 years is a pretty good run and if you ever listened for even a moment, THANK YOU!!! I was getting a lot of messages about not being on the air right now, so just wanted to say it’s all good. I have so much more to say and don’t worry I will, very soon!”
At Kiss-FM, evening host Colt Parkey moves up to afternoons. Colt joined KHKS-FM in January 2020 from the same shift at 101.3 KDWB Minneapolis. Parkey has also hosted afternoons at WKSL Jacksonville and WKTI Milwaukee, and nights at WJZQ Traverse City, WKSZ Appleton, WIXX Green Bay, and WJHM Orlando during his career. KHFI Austin evening host Matt Holiday is now listed in nights at KHKS.
