Buddy Shula’s Oldies “Big WECK” WECK Cheektowaga/Buffalo NY and its three translators have entered into a Joint Sales Agreement to take over ad sales for Code 3 Broadcasting’s WBBZ-TV Springville NY.

Radio One Buffalo, LLC and Code 3 Broadcasting, LLC, leading local broadcast companies are announcing a new joint sales alliance designed to “leverage the tremendous power of the 50+ demo” through local radio and television for listeners, viewers, and advertisers.

Radio One Buffalo, which owns the top-rated WECK, Buffalo’s Oldies Station, 1230AM/100.1FM/102.9FM/100.5FM and owned by Buffalo Broadcast Hall of Famer Buddy Shula has a unique position as a market leading radio station with a full-service advertising agency, “Media One Buffalo, LLC”. BIG WECK is the top-rated oldies radio station in America, and it one of the top-rated radio stations in Buffalo for the 50+ demo.

Code 3 Broadcasting, LLC which owns WBBZ-TV channel 5 on cable and channel 67 over the air, owned by Buffalo Broadcast Hall of Famer Phil Arno also has a unique position in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area by being the only locally owned full power broadcast tv station, providing quality ME TV programming including shows like Star Trek, M A S H, Hogan’s Heros, Perry Mason, Gilligan’s Island and All in the Family, along with the most local programmed shows in the area like “Polka Buzz” with Ronnie D, “Passionate Living” with Cat Miller, and “The Big Picture” hosted by WBBZ owner Phil Arno, “Beat the Champ” “ BIG WECK’s “Buffalo on the Rise” with Joe Chile, and “Off Beat Cinema” to name a few.

With this new strategic alliance, WECK Owner Buddy Shula, and WECK General Manager Don Tomasulo will serve to lead the sales and marketing arm for WBBZ, giving the opportunity to combine both stations for the ultimate viewing and listening experience, and providing businesses with a “one-stop shop” for reaching the highly sought after 50+ audience.
Shula stated, “BIG WECK has great partnerships with all television stations in the area, but the partnership with WBBZ-TV is entirely designed to run the station’s sales division with mind-blowing ideas, affordable advertising rates, and incredible local programming.” Shula continued, “There was a time in Buffalo that broadcast companies owned both television and radio stations, like WGR-TV 2/WGR-Radio, WBEN-TV 4/WBEN Radio, WKBW-TV 7/WKBW Radio. It’s time to merge like this again to provide advertisers with more tools to promote their business.

“It’s a partnership we’ve always thought would make incredible sense”, says WBBZ owner Phil Arno. “Two of Buffalo’s largest independently owned broadcast companies coming together to serve our local communities even better. Nobody knows local marketing better than Buddy, and nobody does local TV better than channel 5 WBBZ. Buddy’s systems and processes have helped BIG WECK radio shoot into the stratosphere, and we are looking forward to his help and knowledge with WBBZ-TV, which is one of the top affiliates in the entire country for ME TV programming.” Arno continued “WBBZ has always been very effective in providing tv shows that are second to none, and we’ve also succeeded in helping local businesses thrive by helping them with marketing solutions. This partnership will give us the ability to provide even more tools under WECK’s direction.

Arno concluded, “This partnership begins immediately, and we are already seeing the power that the alliance can deliver.”
