Biddulph-based online community radio station goes on DAB

Churnet Sound is to launch on DAB in Biddulph, Congleton and Leek and surrounding areas this month.

The community radio station has operated online since 2021 from studios in Biddulph and will ‘go DAB’ on May 15th via the new Leek & Congleton small-scale multiplex.

Local news and information is offered to the local community along with music and entertainment, with an aim by the station to combat loneliness and social isolation across the area by being a friend and companion to each of its listeners.

The board of directors said: “We are extremely delighted to be able to expand our service and launch on DAB this a fantastic opportunity for us and will help the community by having a fantastic local asset.

“We would like to thank Sarah, Jodie and the team at Biddulph town hall for the opportunity to launch and have our first studio set up in the building and the team at the Biddulph youth and community zone for accommodating us and allowing us to expand our offering with two custom built studios paid for by the national lottery.”
