Beyond Radio partners with Morecambe Football Club

North Lancashire’s Beyond Radio is partnering with Morecambe Football Club ahead of the Shrimps’ historic first season in League One.

The community radio station will provide full commentary of all home and away games on FM as well as on the iFollow Shrimps platform via the Club’s website.

Shrimps Live will be presented by former The Bay sports editor and Goal Zone presenter Dave Salmon. Dave also previously worked at Radio Wave commentating on Blackpool FC games.

Shrimps Live also welcomes special guests, including club board members and first team players, and a ‘Shrimps Verdict’ podcast featuring online, on demand content, post-match interviews and reaction.

Split on-air and online programming will be provided thanks to a broadcast solution that combines a traditional ISDN codec and connection that serves the iFollow platform, with the Beyond Radio service on FM powered by Broadcast Radio Live Pro software, feeding into the station’s Myriad playout system via a 5G hub.

Dave Salmon said: “I am tremendously excited and honoured to be part of a brand new bright tomorrow for Morecambe Football Club, as we begin our adventures in League One.

“Beyond Radio has established itself as an integral part of the local community in recent years and this is reflected in the station’s significant investment in the new coverage, which has been tremendously well-received both from our FM listeners locally, as well as many tuning in online from right around the world.

“Hopefully we can deliver a show that both the club and supporters can be proud of. With the networking and nationalisation of the majority of commercial stations in recent years, sports coverage on local radio has never been poorer, but we believe that a local football club is at the very heart of the community, and therefore this will provide a vital service.”

Shrimps Live broadcasts from 2:45pm on Saturdays and 7:30pm for midweek games.
