Preston community station Beat Radio is changing its name to Juice Radio in a partnership with a regional commercial radio station of the same name.
Juice Radio is a chart, dance & throwback format station which launched on DAB in 2022, but will expand to appear on the 103.2 FM frequency from Monday 8th January.
A new initiative, the Juice Academy, will also launch which will open doors for training skills in broadcasting, DJ skills, graphic design and more – free to residents of Preston delivered by experienced radio and DJ professionals.
Juice Radio’s Lee Johnson says: “After an amazing first year establishing the Juice brand and growing our station across the North West on DAB, it’s an honour to be able to expand and bring our great station to even more listeners on FM to our home city.
“Local content and presenters are key to being a trusted media partner of our local community.”
Programmes will originate from the former Beat Radio studios in Preston and broadcast on both platforms between 7am and 6pm, with the two services providing separate programming at other times.
Beat started life as Preston FM and was rebranded to City Beat in 2015 before changing again to Beat 103 and Beat Radio. It has Key Commitments in place to provide locally-produced output for 56 hours per week.
