Bauer’s President of Audio Richard Dawkins to leave the company

Bauer’s President of Audio Richard Dawkins is leaving the company after having different ideas on its future compared with CEO and owner Yvonne Bauer.

In a statement, the company said Richard’s departure is due to differing ideas around the next phase of transformation of Bauer Media’s Audio business.

Richard joined Bauer Media in 2019 as Chief Operating Officer of Audio when the Audio Business Area. Among other things he oversaw the launches of Bauer’s digital audio advertising networks in the Nordics and Portugal, the introduction of premium subscription online radio and the acquisition of Portugal’s commercial radio business.

He stepped in to lead the organisation in November 2021 when the President role became vacant and was confirmed in the post in the following spring.

Richard comments on his departure: “I’ve had the most fantastic four years at Bauer Media Audio, first as Chief Operating Officer and then as President but the time has come to take on a fresh challenge. It’s been a privilege to work with such a passionate group of colleagues and to learn about the many different media landscapes across Europe. I’m truly grateful to Yvonne Bauer for the opportunities and support she has given me, and wish everyone at Bauer the best of luck for the future.”

Yvonne Bauer, Owner and CEO Bauer Media Group, says: “While I’m confident this change is for the best, it is very difficult to lose Richard. This decision has been incredibly challenging for us both, as we deeply respect and appreciate each other as colleagues and professionals. I would like to thank Richard for his inspiration, expertise and unwavering commitment in building the business to what it is today and wish him the very best both professionally and personally.”

Richard Dawkins’ successor will be announced in due course.
